7 Month Old Feeding Chart and Menu
Current recommendations state that babies should be started on solids at 6 months, but no earlier than 4 months of age. By seven months of age, baby should have been introduced to several low-allergy foods like rice cereal, sweet potatoes, peas, squash, banana, pears, and apple.
At this point, you can begin to introduce some moderate-allergy foods. This feeding chart shows approximately how much food a seven month old baby should be eating everyday. Create balanced meals by offering at least 2 different food groups at each meal.
|Breastmilk/Formula||3-5 servings per day (30-32 ounces per day)|
|Grains||3-5 Tablespoons of cereal mixed with breastmilk or formula|
|Meat and Protein||2-4 Tablespoons of pureed meat or tofu|
|Vegetables||4-6 Tablespoons of pureed cooked vegetable|
|Fruits||4-6 Tablespoons of pureed cooked fruit|
|Snacks||Teething biscuits, dry cereal, crackers, tot pops (great for teething!)|
Sample Menu 7 months
This sample menu provided here is only a suggestion, your baby may eat more or less food than what is outlined in this example.
Baby’s first tooth usually appears sometime between 6-8 months. Typically, the bottom two front teeth appear first and then the top two front teeth. Be prepared with some teething biscuits, dry cereals, or tot pops. In my personal experience, small bits of frozen fruit in a mesh feeder will earn you about 10 minutes of glorious silence.
Continue to puree foods for this age group until they get a good handle on chewing and swallowing. Purees should be a little thicker than stage one purees. You can introduce small amounts of plain yogurt and cottage cheese between 7-8 months. Both make great thickeners. If you have a lot of frozen “stage one” runny purees mix them with a little rice cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, or cottage cheese.
|Wake Up||6-8 oz breastmilk/formula|
|Breakfast||2 Tablespoons mango and banana puree with 2 Tablespoons oatmeal||4 oz breastmilk/formula|
|Lunch||2 Tablespoons chicken puree with 2 Tablespoons white potato and 2 Tablespoons pea puree||4 oz breastmilk/formula|
|Dinner||2 Tablespoons rice cereal with 2-4 Tablespoons green bean or asparagus puree||4 oz breastmilk/formula|
|Bedtime||6-8 oz breastmilk/formula|
